Vivian Elizabeth Lipe

Vivian Elizabeth Lipe, 96, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:20 P.M., Monday, May 24, 2004 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Vivian was a retired elementary school teacher.  She taught for forty years, beginning in Cutler schools, then in country schools and finally in Du Quoin schools at Wheatley, Lincoln and McKinley.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, Ruth Sunshine Sunday School Class, teacher for the Junior Department, teacher for the Adult Women's Sunday School Class, member of WMU Mission groups of the church and Fidelis Sunday School Class member and former teacher.
She was born August 6, 1907 at Cutler, IL, the daughter of James Leander and Elizabeth Margaret (Craig) Beggs Brown Jr.
She married Maurice Walker Lipe on June 14, 1930 at the United Presbyterian Church Parsonage at Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1983.
She is survived by one son - James Thomas Lipe of Du Quoin, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 28, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service Friday at the church.
Interment was in the McElvain Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church.
